What's Your Story?: Brilliant Baguettes

January 25, 2013

by Sureena Taparia

After dating his girlfriend for more than a decade, D was ready to pop the question. Though D didn't have an exact idea in terms of the ring he wanted for her, he certainly knew of a few settings she didn't want, which is always a great starting point! According to D, her taste was classic, but not traditional.

We narrowed in on getting a round brilliant diamond as the center stone and though D was initially thinking of getting a 1.5ct diamond, it was a 2ct brilliant beauty that caught his eye! We played around with a number of settings - some that had more creative designs, and others that were more classic. In this baguette diamond ring set in platinum, D found the perfect balance of playful and refined. The baguettes on each side form the number of years they been together and join at the center stone. And D told us "she was so happy with the ring! Thank you so much for helping me out with the selection."

What's Your Story?: Elegant Simplicity

January 22, 2013

by Sureena Taparia

S knew exactly how he was going to propose and when he would pop the question - he just needed that perfect ring for his perfectly planned day. Unsure of exactly what his girlfriend had in mind, S wanted a simple, yet elegant band, with the focus being on the diamond vs on an intricate design. He wanted to get her an engagement ring that she would be able to pass down for generations.

This classic four-prong solitaire ring was designed for a perfect diamond. The center stone is a perfect cut, colorless, and nearly flawless diamond. The 14k white gold band narrows near the center stone to add an element of feminism - an enduring design for an enduring relationship. After his romantic proposal S said "you'll be very happy to know that she absolutely loved the ring. She said it was exactly what she would have picked herself and couldn't believe that I had done such a good job with it." We couldn't be happier for you, S!

January 18, 2013

by Sureena Taparia

For years, women had all the fun with diamond jewelry. But the idea of men wearing jewelry has skyrocketed in the last decade. Whether worn for spiritual significance or for fashion, men have recently grown to wear  jewelry more frequently as a way to accessorize their looks.

N & P wanted to gift their dad a piece that had purpose and they loved the idea of creating something with black diamonds, especially since it paired so well with the black and white diamond drop earrings they were planning on gifting their mom for a special 40th wedding anniversary! Their dad's style is simple and when it came to jewelry, I wanted to make a piece that had a subtle look as well. These custom-made black diamond cufflinks in 14k white gold were designed to make a statement, but in an understated way.

What's Your Story?: Black and White Diamond Earrings

January 16, 2013

by Sureena Taparia

For their parents 40th wedding anniversary, N & P wanted to get something extra special for their parents. But shopping for a mother who already has an abundance of stunning jewelry pieces is never an easy task. N & P knew their mom loved pieces that were bold and eye-catching, but they also wanted to get her something that was unique to her existing collection.

In 2010, Carrie Bradshaw's character in the movie Sex in the City received a black diamond as her engagement ring. Since then, black diamonds have grown significantly in popularity and women across the world are looking for their own black diamond jewelry.

By pairing black diamonds with classic white diamonds, we created these 3+ carat stunners to not only reflected the jewelry taste of their mom, but also compliment the piece that N & P were gifting their dad (next post). These incredible white and black diamond drop earrings in 14k white gold were custom designed for a dramatic look, yet a classic and elegant feel. And N told me "they loved it! Mom and dad said the pieces were gorgeous!"

City Guide: London

Ady Gupta of Love, Ady. Our guest blogger creates her London fashion guide for Fall.

Read her Fall fashion must-haves and shop her picks:

The unpredictable weather in the UK means that Londoners are experts at dressing for between seasons. London street style is all about layering. Layering works best when simple, understated fabrics and colors are paired together to create outfits that work well on many levels. You want to make sure that your look is put-together, even if you have to shed a layer or two.

As London fashionistas will tell you, accessories are an important component to any layered look. Scarves, hats  and sunglasses can add a touch of style but also double as very practical accessories if a sudden breeze or rain shower strikes. With so much going on in one look, it is important to keep jewelry understated and elegant. In addition to being a hot trend for fall, rose gold jewelry is a great match for layered looks because it goes well with everything.
